MODERATION OF 1 ST SEMESTER 2020/2021 ACADEMIC YEAR EXAMINATIONS

Lectures and instructors of all units in the Department of LARMAT on 15th December 2020 moderated 1st semester exam for the year 2020/2021. Prof. Richard Onwonga and Dr. Oliver Wasonga moderated the exercise. It was agreed all moderators retain the moderated exam in the google drive for ease accessibility. All exams to be cleaned for further processing.

POST GRADUATE STUDENTS TO BE CONFERRED DEGREES IN THE UON 64TH GRADUATION CEREMONY

The following Postgraduate students are among Graduands from the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology and offered with letters of Award for their respective degrees to graduate in the 64th UoN Graduation. The degrees will be conferred on 11th December 2020. Congratulations!

 

UoN@50 WEBINAR; CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT IN AGRICULTURE OPPORTUNITIES FOR EARLY CAREER SCIENTISTS AND INDUSTRY

There is existing low linkage between most of Higher Learning Institution and their Alma Mater. This has triggered initiatives that address the current needs to strengthen partnership and development. University of Nairobi and other universities consistently release Alumni to job market where are exposed to diverse lessons, new developments and innovations. These innovations and lessons learnt need to be disseminated to the present training process of future workforce and scientists.

MASTER YOUR RESEARCH; STUDENTS PROPOSAL PRESENTATION

The principal of scientific research is research gap, problem of statement, a well-framed conceptual framework, and study design guided by the study objectives that corresponds to hypotheses. Today 26th November, 2020 5(five) Masters of Science students undertaking MSc in Land and Water Management, MSc in Management of Agroecosystem and Environment and MSc in Agroforestry virtually presented their research projects to their fellow students and supervisors. Dr. George Karuku, coordinated the exercise.

2nd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR YOUTH ENVIRONMENTAL ALLIANCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION 2020

Our goal is to get students experience at working in international spaces and as teams work on sustainable development goals mostly using their home institutions as case studies. The conference will test different ideas as it pursue great chance to partner with University of Nairobi and other institutions

Shadrack Otieno Nyawade a PhD student in Soil Science  on October , 2020 defended his research thesis on Diversification of potato farming systems through legume intercropping for improved resource use efficiency”,  He is a specialist in Soil and Water Resource Management with several years of experience in on-farm research, and is currently working for the Intern

UON NEW COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH; SLU GRANTED FOR INNOVATIVE RESEARCH TO ACHIEVE THE GLOBAL GOALS IN EAST AFRICA

The University of Nairobi has signed a new collaboration with School of Global Studies, Gothenburg University, Umeå, University, Makerere University, IGAD and ICRAF to research on innovative approaches in dryland borders of Kenya and Uganda focusing on livelihood improvement through rangeland (grazing areas) restoration and governance interventions. Professor Ingrid Öborn will lead the team from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).
