PHD AND MSC RESEARCH PROPOSAL PRESENTATIONS

Masters of Science and Doctor of Philosophy students pursuing various degree programmes in this department virtually presented their research proposals to their fellow students and supervisors. According to UoN graduate school guidelines, all postgraduate students must produce progress report and this can be possible if their research work is shared and presented to supervisors and any other invited actor. Over 27 participants were in attendance. Their supervisors were impressed on improved research work enhanced by presentation skills.

LARMAT RANKED 7 AS BEST TEACHING DEPARTMENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI

Out of 66 teaching Department, Department of Land Resources Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) was Ranked no. 7 in the year 2019-2020 University of Nairobi Performance Contract. The LARMAT scored 2.8874 a very good score with highest department scoring 2.6258. LARMAT scores pushed Faculty of Agriculture to  Position Number 2 as best teaching Faculty at the Varsity.

10th UoN OPEN DAY

The 10th University of Nairobi open day will be held on February from 18 to 19th, 2021. The Open day will be virtual, free and open to all. We have career guidance and mentorship sessions lined up for the attendees.

PROFESSOR MOSES NYANGITO OFFICIALLY ELECTED AS SUBSTANTIVE DEAN , FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE

CALL FOR PROPOSALS: -UP-SCALING TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPED BY KALRO AND PARTNERS TO ENHANCE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY FOR FARMERS IN KENYA

KALRO is now inviting interested entities and organizations working with small-holder farmers, pastoralists and fisher-folk to submit proposals to upscale and promote adoption of existing proven and climate smart technologies that have been developed by KALRO and its partners. Proposals that are innovative, need based and promote agribusiness along the value chain continuum from pre-production, production, processing, storage, trading, logistics and consump­tion have the highest chance of winning.

FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE RECOGNIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE CONTRACT AWARD CEREMONY-YEAR 2019/2020

The University of Nairobi(UoN)  today (29th January, 2021) celebrated 2019- 2020 achievement. This is done in recognition of UoN Performance Contract (PC) led by UoN PC secretariat and governed by four (4) main Criteria’s. These are; Financial stewardship, Service Delivery, Core Mandate and other Cross cutting parameters.

RECONNAISSANCE VISIT TO PROPOSED DRYLAND TRANSFORM PROJECT AREAS IN THE GREATER KARAMONJA CLUSTER

Drylands Transform is a new interdisciplinary research project starting up in the Greater Karamonja border region between Uganda and Kenya. The research team –coordinated by SLU – wants to modify the ongoing negative spiral of land, livestock and livelihood degradation into a positive transformation.

POST GRADUATE MSC STUDENT FIELD RESEARCH SUPERVISION IN SOMALILAND

Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) on 16th January, 2021 conducted field visit supervision for Mr. Mustafe Ibrahim and Mohamed Jirde in Somaliland. Mr. Mustafe is a student at the UoN working in research addressing the challenges of rain water harvesting by communities to support resilient livelihoods amidst the climate change impacts.
