CONGRATULATIONS LARMAT GRADUANDS: 68TH UON GRADUATION CEREMONY

The following post graduate is among graduands in this department were conferred with respective degrees in the 68th UoN Graduation Ceremony, which was held today on 16th December, 2022. FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE ADMITS FRESHERS FOR THE FIRST SEMESTER 2021/2022

The Faculty of Agriculture , University of Nairobi today registered students in various degree programmes. The programmes are offered in the four teaching departments . These are ; Department of Land resource Management and Agricultural Technology, Department of Agricultural Economics , Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection and department of Food Science and Nutrition Technology. We welcome you to this faculty as you start set off your first foot in varsity Education.

LARMAT –UON DRAFTS NEW MUTUAL COLLABORATION WITH KEFRI

The team comprising of four researchers from University of Nairobi and five officers from KEFRI visited the Station for purposes of deliberating on formulation of a Memorandum of Association (MOA) for partnership between the two institutions. The visit that lasted from August 30th to September 1st 2021 included tours to the KEFRI Kibwezi Facilities (tree nursery, laboratory, offices and orchard within UoN field Station), nearby model farmer and UoN Kibwezi Field Station facilities.

AGRICULTURE STRAIGHT TALK: NAIVASHA GIRLS AND FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE MEMBERS, UON

Led by the Dean FOA, Prof. Moses Nyangito, students of Naivasha Girls Secondary School interacted with FoA Professors and Doctors, University of Nairobi. The virtual interaction and mentorship was conducted on 26th February 2021. They discussed the importance of Agriculture and environmental science in food security and the associated opportunities related to these fields.

LARMAT RANKED 7 AS BEST TEACHING DEPARTMENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI

Out of 66 teaching Department, Department of Land Resources Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) was Ranked no. 7 in the year 2019-2020 University of Nairobi Performance Contract. The LARMAT scored 2.8874 a very good score with highest department scoring 2.6258. LARMAT scores pushed Faculty of Agriculture to  Position Number 2 as best teaching Faculty at the Varsity.

PROFESSOR MOSES NYANGITO OFFICIALLY ELECTED AS SUBSTANTIVE DEAN , FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE

Prof. M.Nyangito, an Associate Professor in the Department of Land Resources Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) on Friday 5th February 2021 was elected by members of Faculty as the Dean for Faculty of Agriculture, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, University of Nairobi. FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE RECOGNIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE CONTRACT AWARD CEREMONY-YEAR 2019/2020

The University of Nairobi(UoN)  today (29th January, 2021) celebrated 2019- 2020 achievement. PROF. MOSES NYANGITO APPOINTED AS DEAN, FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE

Prof. M.Nyangito, an associate professor in the department of Land Resources Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) has been appointment as Acting Dean; Faculty of Agriculture with effect from 4th August 2020. Prof. Nyangito has held various managerial/ administrative positionswithin University of Nairobi.

OFFICIAL HANDED OVER OF TISSUE CULTURE LAB TO IGAD SHEIKH TECHNICAL VETERINARY SCHOOL (ISTVS) IN SOMALILAND

Prof. George Cheminingwa, The Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Dr. Oscar Koech from the Department of Land Resource Management together with Mr. Charles Otieno of World Vision International Officially handed over Tissue Culture Lab to IGAD Sheikh Technical Veterinary School (ISTVS) in Somaliland.
