The Library has organized online training for postgraduate and researchers on Academic Writing Skills. The training is scheduled on Friday, 22nd October 2021.
Elizabeth Githendu and Solomon Mugi, both students from the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), pursuing MSC in Range Management, University of Nairobi participated in the Emerging Scientist 2021 two week training which was conducted in Maasai Mara, Narok County between September 15, 2021 and September 26, 2021. The training involved hands-on research design, data collection, data analysis, and presentation of research findings.

They are generally excited , motivated , energized and acknowledge this is the best thing which has ever happened in their training at the university of Nairobi . The training is eye opening to me!
Dr. Mureithi a Researcher, Ms. Margeret Nyaga (Student) from LARMAT and William Makokha from Triple L negotiated for a land for research work in West Pokot. The land will be used for establishment of livestock cafe. That the aim of the visit was to get authority and an agreement with the owner of the land together with the area administrative officers, community elders and the ministry of agriculture officers. The Kibwezi Hortipreneur Youth Group (KHYG) is an IITA initiative funded by the African Development Bank and IFAD is currently conducting Agribusiness farming at, UoN Kibwezi Dryland farm. The youth group consists of graduates from different fields mainly within Makueni County. Since 2015- to date, the youth have been carrying out agricultural/Horticultural entrepreneurship training and incubation activities in the said station through mentorship of Prof. Nancy Karanja (LARMAT, UON) and Dr.
The Chairman, LARMAT, Prof. Richard Onwonga and the Thematic Leader Range Management Dr. Oscar Koech, on 4th October, 2021, held a healthy discussion with representatives of BSC in Management of Agroecosytems and Environment, and BSc. in Range Management.
On 30 September 2021, 6(six) Master’s students virtually presented their research proposals to their Supervisors and fellow students. These were; Okoyo Sharon, Josphat Ongeso, Joyce Njuguna, Kelvin Mugambi, Priscila Mwangangi and Felix Kiprono.
The University is conducting training facilitated by the ICT Centre from Monday September 27, 2021 to Friday October 1, 2021 for all the First Year Students 2021. This training is quite important as it will help the students familiarise themselves with the Online Learning, Processes and Systems. Kindly facilitate the students in your Faculty/Department to attend.

Today, 27th September, 2021 about 20 students from the Faculty of Agriculture drawn from 3 teaching departments (LARMAT, FSNT,& Agric Economics), & Dept of Environmental Biosystems engineering have started off an intensive “Agro-ecology and Agro-biodiversity Training Course (AATC)” which will last for 3 and ½ weeks.
