LARMAT SIGNS UON PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS FOR THE YEAR 2021/2022

Chairman LARMAT, Prof. Richard Onwonga today 6th January, 2022 participated in the UoN Vetting and Negotiation of the Departmental Performance contract(PC)  for the year 2021/2022.  In the ceremony, he endorsed the PC for the department in presence of the UON Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama, DVC Academic Affairs, Prof. Julius Ogeng’o and Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Rose Nyikal.

BARINGO COMMUNITY TRAINED ON PARTICIPATORY GIS MAPPING

Dr. Staline Kibet, a Lecturer in this Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) engaged community in participatory mapping to identify Prosopis juliflora invaded areas, assets at risks and identify management practices in Baringo County.

STAFF PARTICIPATES IN THE 7TH AFRICAN HIGHER EDUCATION WEEK AND RUFORUM TRIENNIAL CONFERENCE 2021

Dr. Oliver Vivian Wasonga of Department of Land Resource Management & Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) represented the University of Nairobi at the “Climate Smart Agriculture Awareness Creation, Need Assessment and Development of Training Module”workshop during the Seventh African Higher Education Week and RUFORUM Triennial Conference 2021 held in Cotonou, Benin between December 09 and 13, 2021.

ARGENTINA AND KENYA DISCUSSES STRATEGIES TO IMPROVE FORAGE PRODUCTION IN THE ARID RANGELANDS

Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) participated in the Shared conferences between Argentina and Kenya under FOAR project “Improving livestock production in Kenya”.

TRAINING OF TRAINERS ON ECONOMIC UTILIZATION OF INVASIVE SPECIES (PROSOPIS JULIFLORA)

Dr. Oliver Wasonga and Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) participated in the training of TOTs from various Ministries in the County Government of Samburu, Civil Society Organizations, and Community Representatives on the on Economic Utilization of Invasive Species, particularly Prosopis juliflora.

LARMAT PARTICIPATES IN MAINSTREAMING CLIMATE SMART AGRICULTURE FRAMEWORKS AND TECHNOLOGIES IN RANGE MANAGEMENT AND PASTORALISM PRACTICES

Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) between 6th- 10th Dec, 2021 participated in the National Sensitization workshop on Mainstreaming Climate Smart Agriculture Frameworks and Technologies in the Practices of Range Management and Pastoralism in ASAL areas of Kenya organized by Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and cooperatives, State Department for Livestock.
