The AATC workshop was held on Friday 15th October and marked the culmination of the 3.5-weeks course. The workshop was attended by UoN Faculty of Agriculture dean (Prof. Rose Nyikal and associate Dean Prof. Moses Nyangito), Faculty of agriculture staff, Chairman, Department of LARMAT (Prof. Richard Onwonga), facilitators, ITCOA alumni course instructors, and students. The objective of the workshop was to disseminate the results culminating from the field activities. The workshop was a learning experience for the students on research finding dissemination exercises from the faculty staff.
All students were awarded certificates of participation for successful completion of the training course. Prof Onwonga, together with the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof Rose Nyikal and other Faculty of Agriculture staff presided over the certificate award ceremony.
Prof Nyikal made the closing remarks, in which she extoled he the trainees for highlighting the findings of the fieldwork, introducing new concepts, of which she stated will found the basis for further and in-depth farm system analysis, key in promoting targeted adoption of Agroecology and agro-biodiversity practices for sustainable agroecosystems.
She also acknowledged the partnership between the University of Nairobi – Faculty of Agriculture and; Manor House Agriculture Centre, Mpala Research Centre, the Inter-sectoral Forum on Agro-biodiversity and Agro-ecology (ISFAA) and NutriProduce Limited.
She affirmed that the Faculty of Agriculture is committed to having frameworks that support inter-disciplinary work, research and conversations.
