STUDENTS EXCURSION AT MAASAI MARA ECOSYSTEMS

Experiential training for students in the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) is part of the mode of delivery for all degree programmes courses offered in the Department. As part of this requirement, over 40 Post graduate and Undergraduate students actively participated on a field excursion in the landscapes of Maasai Mara ecosystems. The event took place on 15th and 16th March, 2024.

Dr Oscar Koech, from the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology from 30 October to 2 November 2023 attended the Mid-term coordination meeting for the RAF5090 - Supporting Climate Change Adaptation for Communities through Integrated Soil–Cropping–Livestock Production Systems (AFRA) regional project. The project is supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

KENYA UNVEILS KSH. 9B STRATEGIC PLAN FOR GRASSLANDS AND RANGELANDS

The National Government of Kenya has unveiled a five-year Strategic Plan to manage and develop grassland and rangeland. ARGENTINA AND KENYA DISCUSSES STRATEGIES TO IMPROVE FORAGE PRODUCTION IN THE ARID RANGELANDS

Dr. Oliver Wasonga participated in a Global Webinar on lessons learnt from Covid-19 for building a better future through Sustainable Livestock. Various stakeholders representing the globe attended the 2nd and 3rd September 2020 webinar.

POLICY BRIEF: MAKING DEVOLUTION WORK FOR LIVESTOCK TRADING IN NORTHERN KENYA

This briefing paper was authored by Philemon O. Ngasike-A PhD student in Dryland Resource Management in LARMAT, It summarizes key findings produced during a stakeholder workshop entitled ‘Devolution and its Impacts on Livestock Trade in Northern Kenya’ held in Nairobi on 29 October 2019. County, national and international policymakers and practitioners attended the workshop.
