REGISTER! REGISTER! UON FOUNDATION LAUNCH

The University of Nairobi Management lead by the VC, Prof. Stephen Kiama yesterday 20th, June, 2022, met Faculty of Agriculture and faculty of Vet Medicine to sensitize staff on UoN Foundation to be Launched on Thursday June 30, 2022. This is Initiative is for us all.  He encouraged members of staff to register and disseminate the information to other UoN alma mater  as well as stakeholders.

DOES RANGELAND MANAGEMENT HAS IMPACT ON FOOD SECURITY

Dr.Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) provided a talk during a webinar organized by Africa One Health University Network (AFROHUN) in relation to Covid -19 and other Health issues. Dr. Koech provided a talk on Rangelands in the Wake of Climate Change: Need for Research and Innovations for Sustainable Rangelands Productivity.

ROLE OF RANGELANDS IN SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION SYSTEMS

Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) provided a lecture on Rangeland Ecosystems the Wake of Climate Change. The Webinar was organized by Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Kenya and Farmers Association of Community Self Help Investment Groups (FACHIG) Trust from Zimbabwe.

SUSTAINABLE AND RESILIENT LIVESTOCK TO CLIMATE CHANGE

Dr. Oscar Koech and Dr. Oliver Wasonga from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) participated in a workshop organized by IGAD Center for Pastoral Areas and Livestock Development (ICPALD) with financial support from the World Bank Group.

INTEGRATED SOIL–CROPPING–LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION SYSTEMS AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) participated in a workshop organized by the Department of Technical Cooperation, International Atomic Energy Agency. The workshop purpose was to introduce the current status of Integrated Soil Cropping Livestock Production System and to update the project work plan.

LAUNCH OF THE INTERNATIONAL GRASSLANDS AND RANGELND CONGRESS -IGC –IRC KENYA 2021

Prof. Moses Nyangito, the Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) participated in a workshop organized by the joint XXIV International Grassland Congress and XI International Rangeland Kenya 2021.

INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL 4 WEEKS COURSE (IVC) CLIMATE CHANGE KICKS OFF

The IVC is a four (4) weeks course led by Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), Switzerland in collaboration with the Department of Land Resource Management & Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), University of Nairobi (UoN); the Universidade Federal de Grande Dourados (UFGD), Brazil; and University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore (UASB), India.The course brings together postgraduate students from Brazil, Switzerland, India and Kenya, to learn about climate change trends and impacts on agri-foodsystems and innovative climate change
