GENDER ROLES AND CLIMATE CHANGE AMONG THE PASTORALISTS

Pastoral leaders, elders and representatives of Samburu and Boran communities(Deedha) from Isiolo county between Monday  12th- Tuesday 13th April , 2021 were trained on Leadership and governance which entailed Gender role in pastoral communities, inclusiveness in Decision making and their participatory in implementation of climate change projects/ programmes  in their grassroots .

LARMAT TO HOST "Down2Earth" PROJECT TO TACKLE CLIMATE CHANGE RESILIENCE IN THE HORN OF AFRICA

Down2earth project Aims to help rural East African communities adapt to climate change using state-of-the-art predictions of water scarcity and food insecurity. 

A major component of DOWN2EARTH involves improving the accuracy of forecasting climate variability in critical rainy seasons and assessing its impact on the total amount of water stored in soils for agriculture and deeper underground for drinking water supplies.

INAUGURAL SESSION OF THE CSA CAMPUS FORUM

Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network (CSAYN Kenya), and the University of Nairobi held an inaugural session of the CSA Campus Forum on Thursday, 20th February 2020 at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, University of Nairobi, 844 Building from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. 

IGAD REGIONAL CONSULTATIVE WORKSHOP ON THE INTEGRATED NRM PROJECT INITIATIVES AND LIVELIHOOD

Dr. Oliver Wasonga of the Department of LARMAT from 17th to 19th December, 2019 represented the University of Nairobi at the regional workshop organized by IGAD to finalize applied research proposal on Integrated Natural Resource Management in IGAD’s drylands. The workshop was convened by IGAD to bring together National Experts and Members of the IGAD Dryland Research Forum to streamline the implementation of identified bankable projects through natural resources management for livelihood enhancement in ASALs of IGAD.
