INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL 4 WEEKS COURSE (IVC) CLIMATE CHANGE KICKS OFF

The IVC is a four (4) weeks course led by Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), Switzerland in collaboration with the Department of Land Resource Management & Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), University of Nairobi (UoN); the Universidade Federal de Grande Dourados (UFGD), Brazil; and University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore (UASB), India.The course brings together postgraduate students from Brazil, Switzerland, India and Kenya, to learn about climate change trends and impacts on agri-foodsystems and innovative climate change

ENHANCING CLIMATE ACTIONS ON LAND IN AFRICA

At COP26 held on 31 October – 13 November 2021in Glasgow, Scotland, nations adopted the Glasgow Climate Pact, aiming to turn the 2020s into a decade of climate action and support. The package of decisions consists of a range of agreed items, including strengthened efforts to build resilience to climate change, to curb greenhouse gas emissions and to provide the necessary finance for both. 

CO-DEVELOPING SKILLS WITH PASTORALISTS: GRAZING MANAGEMENT PLANNING IN SAMBURU COUNTY

The Department of LARMAT in partnership with VSF-Suisse has been supporting communities’ capacity building on sustainable rangeland management under Biovision-funded Building Drought Resilience in Samburu Through Sustainable Rangelands Management (DR-SRM) project.

Through the project, County Government officials have been trained to impart sustainable rangeland management knowledge and skills to the larger pastoralist communities in Samburu County.
