PARTICIPATORY MONITORING OF RANGELAND RESOURCES IN ISIOLO COUNTY

The use of participatory approaches and methods in research, development, and humanitarian work has evolved in framing and content. Different terminologies have been used over time – Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA), Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), Participatory Learning and Action (PLA), Participatory Appraisal (PA), and in the recent, the application of PA methods in animal health services and research dubbed as Participatory Epidemiology (PE).

The International Virtual Course 2023 (IVC 2023): “Tackling Climate Change through Global Learning” kicked-off on July 3, 2023. IVC 2023 is collaborative course that brings together lecturers and postgraduate students from Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), Switzerland; University of Nairobi (UoN), Kenya; the Universidade Federal de Grande Dourados (UFGD), Brazil; and University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore (UASB), India.

Anthropogenic Activities Control Rainfall Nitrate in the Lake Victoria Basin, Kenya

The Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest fresh water lake experiences eutrophication related problems like the rapid proliferation of water hyacinth, algal blooms, water quality degradation, and decrease in fish population. This is closely linked to excess nutrient discharge in the lake’s basin which is shared by five countries in Eastern Africa. Recently studies have been contacted to investigate nitrate flows and their potential sources in surface and groundwater on the Kenyan part of the basin [1, 2].
