The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2021- 2030 as the decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable development. This becomes more powerful together with the decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Join us today in the time Slot 6 (time 1pm EAT) as we participate in our first Virtual Conference of the Early Career Ocean Professionals #ECOPs to discuss matters; Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
Fourth years Students undertaking BSC in Management of Agro-ecosystems and Environment are from yesterday 4th to 5th March 2021 presenting research projects to their supervisors. Some opted for virtual and others physical presentation at the Departmental Seminar room.

Out of 66 teaching Department, Department of Land Resources Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) was Ranked no. 7 in the year 2019-2020 University of Nairobi Performance Contract. The LARMAT scored 2.8874 a very good score with highest department scoring 2.6258. LARMAT scores pushed Faculty of Agriculture to Position Number 2 as best teaching Faculty at the Varsity.
Claire Nasike Akello is a Masters student persuing Management of Agroecosystems and Environment in the Department of LARMAT. She has been nominated as one of youth doing an outstanding work in the agricultural sector.

The following Postgraduate students are among Graduands from the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), CAVS cleared by the University of Nairobi Graduate School and given letters of Award for their respective degrees to graduate in the 63rd UoN Graduation. On 10th September 2020, A PhD student, Joyce Aguk in the department of LARMAT defended her research proposal to the Faculty of Agriculture Board of Examiners chaired by Prof. James Muthomi. She is undertaking PhD in Soil science under Supervision of Prof. Richard Onwonga and Prof. George Chemining’wa.
Prof. Richard Onwonga from this department is among 78 participants from African Universities being trained in Transformative pedagogue online. He was nominated by the college of Agriculture and veterinary sciences. The course will run for four weeks starting from September 7th to 24th, 2020 and is being facilitated by the Pedagogical Leadership in Africa (PedaL). The training was officially opened by the Vice Chancellor, University of Nairobi, Prof.
Janeth Chepkemoi, a PhD student this Department is among the 57 PhD candidates from 20 developing countries to receive scholarships in Round 4 of the Climate, Food and Farming – Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases Development Scholarships programme (CLIFF-GRADS).
