SHARPEN YOUR SKILLS ON ONLINE TEACHING AND LEANING

Prof. Richard Onwonga from this department is among 78 participants from African Universities being trained in Transformative pedagogue online. He was nominated by the college of Agriculture and veterinary sciences. The course will run for four weeks starting from September 7th to 24th, 2020 and is being facilitated by the Pedagogical Leadership in Africa (PedaL). The training was officially opened by the Vice Chancellor, University of Nairobi, Prof. Stephen Kiama who underscored the importance of online learning and stressed that all staff of the University, through the Deputy Vice Chancellor academic affairs’ office  – who was also was present, will have to trained and to be able to conduct teaching and learning online.

The PedaL Online: Technology for Transformative Pedagogy. Is a course designed to help educators better understand how to design their courses to make better use of educational technology – in both blended and fully online modes. The course covers fundamental concepts and immerses participants in the practical application of a variety of toolsets, digital resources and strategies for course planning, design as well as creative facilitation and innovative assessment. By participating in this course, you will be able to develop a working understanding of successful online teaching strategies that you can apply in your own practices (Quoted verbatim). Over 78 participants, drawn from across African Universities, are participating in the course.
