PhD STUDENT SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDED HER RESEARCH PROPOSAL

On 10th September 2020, A PhD student, Joyce Aguk in the department of LARMAT defended her research proposal to the Faculty of Agriculture Board of Examiners chaired by Prof. James Muthomi. She is undertaking PhD in Soil science under Supervision of Prof. Richard Onwonga and Prof. George Chemining’wa.

PhD STUDENT AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP; 2020 CLIFF-GRADS

Janeth Chepkemoi, a PhD student this Department is among the 57 PhD candidates from 20 developing countries to receive scholarships in Round 4 of the Climate, Food and Farming – Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases Development Scholarships programme (CLIFF-GRADS).

HOW WELL CAN YOU ARTICULATE YOUR RESEARCH? - POST GRADUATE STUDENTS PROPOSAL PRESENTATION

In any research monitoring and evaluation of study progress plays a crucial role both to the students and supervisors. It’s in this case University of Nairobi developed a mechanism of tracking student’s research. This can be ascertained through series of study research presentations to the supervisors and fellow students. On 12th March, 2020, the Ag Chairman LARMAT, Dr. Oliver Wasonga assisted by the departmental students’ project coordinator, Dr. G.

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2019 IN YOUR 62 GRADUATION

On 20th December 2019, department of LARMAT produced several postgraduate and undergraduate students in various SDGs disciplines. These thematic clusters includes, Dryland Resource Management, Land Resources major, Range Management, Management of Agro-ecosystems, Soil science. In  the upcoming graduations, we expect studies completion rate increase as most of students have defended their thesis. In solidarity, we believe you have gained a lot from your alma mater.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY STUDENT DEFENSE

Chepkemoi Janeth on 11th November 2019 successfully defended her PhD thesis in Soil Science. Her thesis  was entitled “Influence of topography and vegetation cover on soil organic carbon stocks, Soil loss, and water balance and greenhouse gas fluxes in wooded grasslands of Laikipia County, Kenya” We wish her well in future endeavors.
