SENSITIZATION OF SERVICE PROVIDERS ON AGRICULTURAL SECTOR DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT PROGRAMME (ASDSP II)

Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) on 4th and 5th March, 2020 participated in a workshop. It was held at Kaputiei Safariland Hotel, Kitengela. It was about Sensitization of Service Providers on Agricultural Sector Development Support Programme (ASDSP II) Capacity Building and Innovation Grants Mechanisms. Agricultural Sector Development Support Programme II is a five year Programme (2017-2022) financed by the Government of Kenya, the Government of Sweden and the European Union (EU). The objective of ASDSP II is “To develop sustainable priority value chains for improved income, food and nutrition security” to be achieved through:

  1. Environmentally resilient Value Chain Development,
  2. Stimulating economic environments that contributes to stabilization, resilience and economic empowerment for women and youth in value chain development and
  3. Effective Sector transformation at the national, intergovernmental, cross-county and county levels.

ASDSP has developed priority value chains that need operationalization with consultation, cooperation and coordination with all stakeholders to realize the following four outcomes areas:

  1. Increased productivity of priority value chains
  2. Strengthened entrepreneurial skills of Value Chain Actors(VCAs)
  3. Improved access to markets by VCAs and
  4. Strengthened structures and capacities for coordination in the Agricultural Sector
