JOINT LEARNING EVENT ON “IMPROVING LIVELIHOODS AND CLIMATE RESILIENCE THROUGH INNOVATION IN KENYA’S ASAL COUNTIES”

Dr Oscar Koech from the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology participated as a Panelist in a Joint Learning Event on “Improving Livelihoods and Climate Resilience through Innovation in Kenya’s ASAL Counties” hosted by SNV in partnership with KALRO and WSTF on 14th-15th November 2023. The workshop provided a learning platform and sharing of ideas on Sustainable Rangelands management, Sustainable feed fodder production, fodder/Pasture seed systems and the challenges and opportunities in Kenyan Drylands. Dr. Koech highlighted the importance of research and community outreach in addressing community challenges, with the need to develop adapted and applicable technologies and innovations in the face of climate change. The take home message was, 1) we need to get to action and support vulnerable agro-pastoralists and Pastoralists. 2) We need synergies with all players’ for enhanced outputs and positive efforts.
