LARMAT PRESENTS OVER 30 ABSTRACTS IN AGRO CONFERENCE 2023

The Faculty of Agriculture on 25 and 26th October 2023  held a Successful Agro conference 2023. It was a great moment for the Department of LARMAT to present over 30 abstracts, with an award winning Poster presentation by PhD Candidate in Range Management, Ms. Margeret Nyaga in this Department. The conference brought out a learning opportunity through discussion with experts, scientists, practitioners on matters of food security, food safety and Sustainable food systems.

CONGRATULATIONS LARMAT GRADUANDS: 68TH UON GRADUATION CEREMONY

The following post graduate is among graduands in this department were conferred with respective degrees in the 68th UoN Graduation Ceremony, which was held today on 16th December, 2022. RICHARD OSALIYA SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDS HIS PHD THESIS

Mr. Richard Osaliya successfully defended his PhD thesis titled: “Impact of Land Use/Cover and Climate Change on Surface Water Resources in Semi-Arid Lokok and Lokere Catchments, Uganda” during a virtual oral examination convened by the Faculty of Agriculture on November 3, 2021. CAVS TREE PLANTING DAY;

PHD STUDENT BENJAMIN K. NYILITYA SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDS HIS THESIS VIRTUALY

Benjamin K. Nyilitya successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Nitrate source apportionment in surface and groundwater of the Lake Victoria basin in Kenya” on Monday October 19, 2020 at 17.00 EAT. The public defense was conducted online with the members of the Jury seated in Belgium, Germany and Kenya.

SCOPING MISSION IN PREPARATION FOR DR-SRM PROJECT KICK OFF IN SAMBURU COUNTY

Dr.SM Mureithi of Department of LARMAT, University of Nairobi accompanied by the Country Director of Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Suisse (VSF-Suisse) ,(Kenya and Somalia) and Eric Rosana of VSF-Suisse Kenya are on a four day (from 2nd November, 2020)  scoping mission in Samburu County in preparation for the start of implementating the  “Building Drought Resilience in Samburu Through Sustainable Rangelands Management (DR-SRM) Project.

THIRD WEEK; ONLINE EXAMS FOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRESSING WELL

Today the department of LARMAT conducted two exams online for undergraduate students with 98% attendance and successful exams answer sheet turned in. These were fourth and third year BSC in Management of Agroecosystems and Environment under taking Recycling and Bio-conversion of Organic Waste and  Environmental planning and Management respectively. It was noted as recommendable progress since inception of second semester exams 2019- 2020 amid Corona virus pandemic.

SMOOTH END OF POSTGRADUATE ONLINE EXAMS (SECOND SEMESTER 2019-2020)

The chairman, Department of Land Resources Management  and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) assisted by the Department  online exam committee and fellow lecturers has declared a smooth end of postgraduate exams in this semester. The last exam was conducted on 10th July 2020 and the entire session was friendly. Students were adequately guided by their lectures on use of Google classroom in conducting exams with most of units recording 100% attendance. It was noted despite few hitches all students managed  to turn in answer sheet in time.

SUCCESSFUL ONLINE EXAMINATION COMMENCES; SECOND SEMESTER 2019/2020

The department of Land Resources Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) yesterday 29th June 2020 administered five exams online to postgraduate students. These are student undertaking Masters of Science courses in (Soil Science, Range Management, Management of Agroecosystems and Environment, Land and water management and PhD in Dryland Resource Management. The exercise recorded 100% attendance and the exam was administered via google classroom while adequately monitored by Course leaders and other invigilators.
