POST GRADUATE STUDENTS RESEARCH PROGRESS-18TH PHD SERIES SEMINAR

The 18th PhD seminar was held on 27th Feb 2020 at the Faculty of agriculture (FOA), College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, University of Nairobi. The seminar started at 9.30 a.m. The seminar brought together postgraduate students from various departments within the FOA, who shared their PhD research findings to staff and students. This is a PhD seminar series programme in the faculty of Agriculture that aims at improving PhD research quality and also offer the PhD students an opportunity to share their research findings with fellow researchers. ASSESSMENT OF EFFECTS OF COCHINEAL BUGS RELEASE ON Opuntia Stricta IN NORTHERN LAIKIPIA COUNTY

Dr. Staline Kibet  a lecturer from LARMAT join Prof. Shirley Strum and Mr. Patrick Mwangi of ENBP to assess the effects of Cochineal bugs damage to Opuntia stricta invasive weeds after unusually prolong rainy season in late 2019 at Oljogi Ranch, Laikipia County. After painstakingly long process of acquiring the permits to import and test the effectiveness of Cochineal bugs (Dactylopiusopuntiae) from South Africa, they were finally release on trials at Oljogi Ranch on three sites selected by NEMA.
