LEARNING ON INTEGRATED SOIL-CROP - LIVESTOCK-TREE PRODUCTION SYSTEM FOR SUSTAINABILITY IN AFRICA

Dr.Oscar Koech from the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), UoN, Ms. Elizabeth Okwosa from Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organizations (KALRO) and Prof. Rogerio Martins Mauricio from Brazil facilitated an experiential field Learning Opportunity among African experts on Integrated Soil-Crop - Livestock-Tree Production system for sustainability in Africa. An exchange learning opportunity Supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Organized by KALRO and The University of Nairobi, LARMAT.  Participants from Ghana, Nigeria, Eswatini, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Algeria visited KALRO Naivasha and a Farmer practicing integrated system of crop-dairy and Agroforestry practices in Ndabibi area of Naivasha. Great lessons on how integrated tree-crop-livestock system has potential in soil, water and nutrient conservation, with inclusion of Biogas energy- save the environment.
