Apiculture is one of the valuable enterprises within agricultural sector. This industry of bee keeping support a larger population in Kenya through honey production. Bee keeping has extensive value chain ranging from cosmetics, confectioneries, pharmaceuticals, herbal products. To farmiliase on some of mentioned bee keeping aspects Third year students in Range Management on 11th March 2020 visited National beekeeping station in Lenana.

National bee keeping station promotes apiculture in the country with well equipped workshops, honey refinery labs as well as quality control labs. Students were introduced on different types of bee hives, management of apiary, most floral tree species for bee forage, honey refinery procedures, Honey making quality control, marketing of honey products as well as value addition.

They were guided by their lecturer and staff at National bee keeping station James Muriuki assisted by of LARMAT staff, Carolyne Kyalo and James Nderitu.
