POST GRADUATE MSC STUDENT FIELD RESEARCH SUPERVISION IN SOMALILAND

Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) on 16th January, 2021 conducted field visit supervision for Mr. Mustafe Ibrahim and Mohamed Jirde in Somaliland. Mr. Mustafe is a student at the UoN working in research addressing the challenges of rain water harvesting by communities to support resilient livelihoods amidst the climate change impacts. The study is addressing a regional challenge in the Horn of Africa, where the frequent droughts have been a big challenge to pastoral livelihoods. This has resulted to development of alternative livelihood options through rain water harvesting for multiple uses among the community. His research findings will be useful in guiding policy on rain water harvesting and uses in Somaliland.
