LARMAT 2019/2020 PC EVALUATION AND 2020/2021 NEGOTIATIONS

The University of Nairobi, VC Prof. Stephen Kiama, this morning (10th August 2020) virtually officiated Performance Contract (PC) Evaluation and Negotiation exercise for the entire UoN. This exercise will start at the College of Agriculture and veterinary sciences (CAVS) and will be replicated to all other campuses within UoN. Prof. Kiama acknowledged the “new Normal” and applauded the team for innovation transition since inception of PC at the University of Nairobi. PC is a measure used to evaluate units and responsible Manager(s) (VC, DVC, Principals, Dean, HoD commitment to PC Contract signed between their units and achieved milestones guided by the PC criteria’s set by the University of Nairobi PC secretariat. The VC urged College Registrars to be in front line in supporting Principals in these important exercises. In the meeting, It was raised that this exercise is time bound and involving and the recognition department as has been normal should be embraced. It was agreed that this should not be in monetary basis as “Rewarding people with Money makes it Cheap but acknowledging the performance will get money out of it,” said Prof. Rose Nyikal, Principal, CAVS . However, Prof. Kiama ensured the PC members that, Recognition of the best performing Department will be considered in the PC 2020/ 2021. The PC UoN PC Secretariat led by Dr. Grace Karinga was happy to announce excellent use of google drive to upload evidences of each atleast 39-40 PC criterias per units. She informed members on expectation and related documents for evaluation. The exercise will also involve Negotiation for the New PC 2020/2021 and all units were required to Comply. Over 35 Participants were intendance. In Attendance from LARMAT was New Dean, FOA Prof. Moses Nyangito, Chairman, LARMAT Prof Geoffrey Kironchi and MS. Carolyne Kyalo, Departmental PC secretariat.
