FOOD SYSTEMS SUMMIT DIALOGUES

Dr. Oliver V. Wasonga from the Department of LARMAT participated in the online Food Systems Summit Dialogue on: “Transforming Pastoralism sustainably and innovatively to address key drivers of food insecurity and malnutrition: A Multi-sector dialogue from Kenya’s Frontier Counties” organized by Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC) on 18th May, 2021.

The Dialogues are a forerunnerto the UN Food Systems Summit to be held in 26 – 28 July, 2021 in Rome. The Summit is part of the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. It will launch bold new actions to deliver progress on all 17 SDGs, each of which relies to some degree on healthier, more sustainable and equitable food systems.

The Food Systems Summit Dialogues offer opportunity for people everywhere to have a seat at the table at this milestone UN Summit. Dialogues bring together a diversity of stakeholders, including voices that are seldom heard, and provide an important opportunity for participants to debate, collaborate, and take action towards a better future.
