The training Kicked off on 27th September and ended today 15th October 2021

They are generally excited , motivated , energized  and acknowledge  this is the  best thing which has ever happened in their training at the university of Nairobi . The training is eye opening to me!

LAND NEGOTIATION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF LIVESTOCK CAFÉ IN CHEPUKAT, CHEPKOPEGH LOCATION, WEST POKOT COUNTY

Dr. Mureithi a Researcher, Ms. Margeret Nyaga (Student) from LARMAT and William Makokha from Triple L negotiated for a land for research work in West Pokot. The land will be used for establishment of livestock cafe. That the aim of the visit was to get authority and an agreement with the owner of the land together with the area administrative officers, community elders and the ministry of agriculture officers. The Kibwezi Hortipreneur Youth Group (KHYG) is an IITA initiative funded by the African Development Bank and IFAD is currently conducting Agribusiness farming at, UoN Kibwezi Dryland farm. The youth group consists of graduates from different fields mainly within Makueni County. On 30 September 2021, 6(six) Master’s students virtually presented their research proposals to their Supervisors and fellow students. These were; Okoyo Sharon, Josphat Ongeso, Joyce Njuguna, Kelvin Mugambi, Priscila Mwangangi and Felix Kiprono.

WEBINAR - FIRST YEAR STUDENTS 2021 - ICT ONLINE TRAINING

The University is conducting training facilitated by the ICT Centre from Monday September 27, 2021 to Friday October 1, 2021 for all the First Year Students 2021. This training is quite important as it will help the students familiarise themselves with the Online Learning, Processes and Systems.  Kindly facilitate the students in your Faculty/Department to attend.

AGROECOLOGY AND AGROBIODIVERSITY TRAINING COURSE (AATC) 2021

Today, 27th September, 2021 about  20 students from the Faculty of Agriculture drawn from 3 teaching departments (LARMAT, FSNT,& Agric Economics), & Dept of Environmental Biosystems engineering have started off an intensive   “Agro-ecology and Agro-biodiversity Training Course (AATC)” which will last for 3 and ½ weeks.

CONGRATULATIONS TO LARMAT- UON 65TH GRADUANDS

On Friday 24th September, 2021, During the 65th UON graduation Ceremony, this Department, Faculty of Agriculture,  graduated students in various Degrees  offered both to post graduate and undergraduate. Some of these degrees were , BSC Management of Agro- ecosystems and Environment, BSc Range Management,MSC  Range Management, MSC Soil Science, PhD in Dryland Resource Management , PhD Sustainable Soil Resource Management.

REGISTER FOR DRYLANDS TRANSFORM Agri4D CONFERENCE ON 28-30TH OF SEPTEMBER 2021

On the 29th of September 2021, 11.30-12.00 CESTDr. Stephen Mureithi  a Senior Lecturer from  this Department  presented a paper on the topic of "Livestock Cafés; experimental research and co-learning hubs in Dryland Transform". 30th of September at 11.30, Ingrid Öborn and Aida Bargues Tobella presented on "Restoring drylands for nutrition and health of humans and livestock" showing some results from the first data collection in the project.
