LARMAT SCOOPS THE BEST OVERALL POSTER IN THE AGRO- CONFERENCE 2023

On 26th October, 2023 Ms. Margeret Nyaga, a PhD student (Range Management) from the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), University of Nairobi, presented a poster entitled “Rangeland restoration for resilient livelihoods through Livestock Cafés in the drylands of East Africa” during the AGRO-CONFERENCE 2023 organized by the Faculty of Agriculture. She was awarded as the best overall poster presenter.

Dr. Mureithi a Researcher, Ms. Margeret Nyaga (Student) from LARMAT and William Makokha from Triple L negotiated for a land for research work in West Pokot. The land will be used for establishment of livestock cafe. That the aim of the visit was to get authority and an agreement with the owner of the land together with the area administrative officers, community elders and the ministry of agriculture officers. On the 29th of September 2021, 11.30-12.00 CESTDr. Stephen Mureithi  a Senior Lecturer from  this Department  presented a paper on the topic of "Livestock Cafés; experimental research and co-learning hubs in Dryland Transform". 30th of September at 11.30, Ingrid Öborn and Aida Bargues Tobella presented on "Restoring drylands for nutrition and health of humans and livestock" showing some results from the first data collection in the project.
