UON PARTICIPATES IN REGIONAL INTERNATIONAL YEAR FOR RANGELANDS AND PASTORALISTS SUPPORT GROUP (IYRP) LAUNCH

On 16th December 2020, the Regional International Year for Rangelands and Pastoralists Support Group (RISG) was launched. This involves various stakeholders among them University of Nairobi (UoN). UoN officially joins the networks of international organizations, governments, NGOs, INGOs, civil society organizations, among other groups and individuals in the push for UN to observe and mainstream the IYRP. UON NEW COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH; SLU GRANTED FOR INNOVATIVE RESEARCH TO ACHIEVE THE GLOBAL GOALS IN EAST AFRICA

The University of Nairobi has signed a new collaboration with School of Global Studies, Gothenburg University, Umeå, University, Makerere University, IGAD and ICRAF to research on innovative approaches in dryland borders of Kenya and Uganda focusing on livelihood improvement through rangeland (grazing areas) restoration and governance interventions. Professor Ingrid Öborn will lead the team from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).

SCOPING MISSION IN PREPARATION FOR DR-SRM PROJECT KICK OFF IN SAMBURU COUNTY

Dr.SM Mureithi of Department of LARMAT, University of Nairobi accompanied by the Country Director of Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Suisse (VSF-Suisse) ,(Kenya and Somalia) and Eric Rosana of VSF-Suisse Kenya are on a four day (from 2nd November, 2020)  scoping mission in Samburu County in preparation for the start of implementating the  “Building Drought Resilience in Samburu Through Sustainable Rangelands Management (DR-SRM) Project.
