UoN Community on 11th April, 2025 over 2000 planted Avocado fruit trees and Indigenous trees ' Let us preach the gospel of Environmental greening and sustainability down to our communities and not only in Nairobi,' stressed UON. Vice chancellor, Prof. Hutchinson, as she addressed staff, students and partners that had gathered for the Annual Tree Planting Ceremony. The tree ceremony led by Department of Land Resource Management & Agricultural Technology, UON was occasioned by staff and students in LARMAT under the leadership of Prof. Richard Onwonga, head of the faculty Environment committee , Dr. Staline Kibet. The student fraternity was represented by Abdi Rashid S. Ali, Pioneer Class Dryland Sustainability Science with Technology representative and Chairman of the Muslim Students Association. This initiative reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship and the importance of nurturing our planet for future generations. The event not only emphasized the value of sustainability but also fostered a spirit of community and responsibility among participants. In his remarks during the tree planting initiative, Abdirashid Ali stated, “By embracing environmental stewardship, we are not only protecting our planet but also igniting a movement of hope and responsibility that will inspire generations to come.
