DOWN2EARTH Project is a collaborative research project funded by European Union, led by the Cardiff University and includes University of Bristol, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, University of Hohenheim, University of Nairobi, Addis Ababa University, IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Center (ICPAC), Ghent University, University of East Anglia, Food and Agriculture Organization-Somalia Water and Land Information System (FAO-SWALIM), Climate Analytics, BBC Media Action, Action Aid, and Transparency Solutions. The Project aims at addressing the multi-faceted challenges of water scarcity and food insecurity under climate change in Horn of Africa Drylands, by facilitating community-centered adaptation and resilience to climate change impacts.

Dr. Oliver Vivian Wasonga, Dr. Staline Kibet and Alphayo Lutta from the Department of LARMAT, University of Nairobi joined partners from University of East Anglia, Action Aid International Kenya and Addis Ababa University in a workshop to review and refine data collection tools and pilot the study methodology between 8th and 16th November, 2021. The survey was conducted in Kilimatany Village of Samburu County to avoid sampling the communities targeted for the actual study in Isiolo County. The study used scenario analysis to explore various sources of climate information received by the community, their perceptions on the reliability and the kind of decisions they make based on such information.
