Students and their Lectures at Masinga Dam

On 5th April, 2019, Fouth and Second year students undertaking BSC Range Management and BSC Management of Agro- ecosystems and Environment under guidance of Dr. Staline Kibet, Ms. Carolyne Kyalo, Ms. Carolyne Odori, Mr. Musembi Kimeu and Mr. Simon Mbote were exposed to a exclusive excursion. The trip was on ecology and agro ecological systems and land use systems and their associated vegetation in semi- arid regions of Eastern and Central Kenya. This entirely covered various Agro- ecological zones (AEZ) ranging from Nairobi, Kiambu, Kirinyanga, Embu and, Machakos Counties. Different ecosystems and land uses were realized in Kakuzi, Kambiti, Mwea irrigation scheme all the way to Masinga dam and its Environs. The trip provided a better understanding of various ecological management as well as informed complex relationships between plants and animals in the various ecosystems nested in different land use systems.
