The Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), in conjunction with the African Drylands Institute for Sustainability (ADIS), held a one day training workshop at KARLO Headquarters, Loresho on 24th May, 2017 from 8.30 AM. The goal of the workshop was to re-tool all the instructors servicing courses in the PhD Dryland Resource Management programme, to enable them embark on an exercise of converting the course units to ODeL format.

The training was facilitated by Dr. J. Odumbe and Dr. C. Wafula of the ODeL Campus, University of Nairobi and was officiated by Prof. J. Kimenju , Dean Faculty of Agriculture.

The workshop was foreseen to enable the participants to:

  • Share the inputs for writing self-instructional materials
  • Develop outlines and outcomes for the modules and lectures
  • Re-organize and develop lectures in line with the ODeL outline requirements
  • Provide for interactivity and visualization
  • Ensure conversational approach
  • Develop at least two lectures

Follow up working meeting are planned until the conversion work will be completed by 30th July 2017.
