Dr. Oscar Koech from the University of Nairobi (UoN), Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology and Mr. Kenneth Tembe from IGAD Sheikh Technical Veterinary School (ISTVS) in Somaliland attended a partners learning event on advancing localization of interventions and capacity development in Somalia at SKA, Mogadishu on 11th July 2018. This was an opportunity for partners, donors, and likeminded organizations in Somalia to learn from one another’s expertise/experience, and develop strategies for advancing all facets of collective efforts towards localization, creation of synergies and adopt innovations and best practices for enhanced sustainability. The event offered an excellent opportunity that promoted inter-sectoral achievements

in the humanitarian work and to strengthen the partnership among governments, LNGOs, and development partner and other institutions working in Somalia. The University of Nairobi is in collaboration with WV and IGAD Sheikh Technical University of Veterinary School (ISTVS) in research and extension supported by World Vision Somalia through the DFAT funded Australian NGO cooperation Program (ANCP) project. The UoN is also nurturing and mentoring a ISTVS in Somaliland, an effort that greatly contributes to localization in Somalia. Dr. Koech presented on ‘Partnership developed by UoN in benefiting capacity development and localization in Somaliland’.
