The workshop was on ‘Scaling Climate Smart Agriculture: Lessons from ESPA Synthesis.’

The workshop was organized by a partnership between the Ecosystems Services for Poverty Alleviation programme (ESPA) and the Kenyan-chapter of the Ecosystems Based Adaptation for Food Security in Africa Assembly (EBAFOSA).

ESPA is a research programme delivering evidence and tools which aims to create a more sustainable link between the natural environment and wellbeing in the world's poorest countries, and has been supporting research for the past eight years (  The ESPA-EBAFOSA Partnership seeks to   put into use the evidence from ESPA research, detailing how, in the face of a changing climate, CSA approaches might contribute to equitable sustainable development in Kenya. EBAFOSA works very closely with partners and the University of Nairobi is recognized as an important partner that contributes to expertise in CSA, and was therefore important in the meeting.  Dr. Koech made a presentation on”Reflections: Imperatives for a Successful CSA Scaling in Africa.
